| Soho House is a place for our diverse membership to connect, grow, have fun, and make an impact. From the beginning, and throughout our 25-year history, our members have always been at the heart of everything we do 1995: 40 Greek Street, Soho We opened our first House on London’s Greek Street in 1995, when founder Nick Jones was offered the space above his restaurant, Cafe Boheme. The rooms of the townhouse were accessed via a small door just around the corner from Cafe Boheme, which inspired Nick to turn it into a members’ club for the local creatives who had become the restaurant’s regulars. It was called Soho House because that was what it was: a Georgian house in London’s Soho. The logo reflects the layout of that first space – three floors across three interconnecting houses. 1998: Babington House, and the launch of Cowshed After three years in Soho, we opened Babington House, the first countryside House with bedrooms: a Grade II-listed Georgian manor set in 18 acres in the heart of Somerset, designed to create a relaxed home away from home for London members. Our first Cowshed spa began life here, tucked away in an old cowshed in the grounds of Babington House. The Cowshed philosophy centres on the therapeutic nature of botanical essential oils, with products made in England from a variety of organic ingredients and wildcrafted plant extracts, with the Cowshed spa now offering treatments around the world. 2002: Electric House, Notting Hill Electric House was our second London House, in Notting Hill. It is located next to Electric Cinema, which first opened in 1910 – making it one of London’s oldest active cinemas. |
